Your Path: Circle of Inclusion Home Page ""Accommodation, Accessibility, & Awareness "" Children's Books Review Guide "" Section 1

Section one of this guide is divided into three parts.

The first part consists of a description of nine criteria that have been developed for evaluating children’s literature that addresses disability as part of diversity. Within each criteria a definition and example of what to look for when reviewing a book is provided.

The second part uses an example book detailing the thought process in evaluating a children’s book of this nature. Also included in this part is a short checklist version of the nine criteria.

The third part provides teachers with a list of books that have already been evaluated and assessed as appropriate for use in a classroom using the nine criteria checklist.
