Regardless of where you decide to keep your lending library, it is important that your families know about the library and how they can use it. Some suggestions on how to do this follows:

1) Tips on Reading to Your Child: During initial parent teacher conferences or other initial welcomes to the program or class, provide family members with information on the value of reading to their children.
""View a example handout that contains tips for parents on reading to their children.

2) Provide a List: Provide a short list of books and topics that you have in your collection. Explain to each parent how they can borrow a book.

3) Suggested Books: In your newsletter, list some suggested books within your library along with activities and contexts in which to use them.

4) Contest: Have a contest to see which family can read the most books from your library.

5) Book Sharing Day: Have a day where families bring in their favorite book and share it with the class. Inform families that they can use any of the books in your library.
