| Restructuring services
for young children from segregated to inclusive programs is a significant
change within a community. Each of the Circle of Inclusion modules
consists of several short articles or hand outs which address the
implementation of inclusive early childhood services.
- Getting
Started: Initiating Inclusive Programs in Your Community
This module contains information which builds a foundation for
inclusion as well as support materials for informing stakeholders
and engaging them in a collaborative effort to create inclusive
programs.
- Preparing
Personnel to Function Effectively in an Inclusive Program
This module includes strategies to prepare the adults within an
inclusive early childhood program to work together.
- Empowering
Families
This module provides information on the family's participation
in the inclusive programing. Material presented here is also woven
into the other modules.
- Facilitating
the Child's Full Participation
In order for a child with disabilities to become a full participant
in an early childhood classroom, attention must be given to the
appropriate accommodations to meet the needs of the child.
- Monitoring
Children's Progress
This module provides information for monitoring individual child
progress on IEP goals/objectives and overall program effectiveness
evaluation.
- Planning for Transition
This module presents a planning model for transitions and a model
for evaluating transition practices.
- Tia: A Case
Study Activity
This activity is a teaming exercise with information for five
different professionals working with a young child included in
a preschool program.
