Evaluating Family Satisfaction

Your Path: Circle of Inclusion Home Page -->Methods -->Inclusion Manual -->Chapter 9 -->Family Satisfaction

The success of a preschool program should be evaluated both continuously (formatively) and at a designated time (summatively) to provide team members with opportunities to review progress, modify existing programs, implement new programs, and to celebrate success. Family members again are integral to this evaluation process. Many different approaches to evaluation are available and frequently used by programs. Team meetings for a child are excellent avenues for evaluating a child's progress and the effectiveness of the teams interactions. Programs may also want to consider specific evaluation procedures directed toward family members to assure their input.

    *About the FamPRS...
FamPRS is a very useful, reliable, and validated tool that had been developed by the Beach Center on Disability, a research institute affiliated by the University of Kansas and the Department of Special Education. FamPRS will help you assess an early intervention program in terms of Family-Centeredness. FamPRS is comprised of two scales: Parent's Scale and Provider Scale. The Parent Scale can be seen in our Preschool Inclusion Manual Chapter 9 (Download the chapter in PDF). Both scales and the User's Manual can be ordered from the Beach Center on Disability).
