Individual cooperatives and local education agencies vary as
to what type of options they are able to offer families, depending upon
the size of the district and the families' choice for placement. Many
local education agencies transport children with special needs to and
from the place they are enrolled, whether this placement is a community
preschool or a special education preschool. In the case of Head Start,
school districts and special education cooperatives have typically delineated
transportation arrangements in their interagency agreements. Some districts
or special education cooperatives elect to also transport children's non-disabled
peers if it does not require another stop or the stop is along the typical
bus route.
