Nancy, from Opportunity Preschool replied:
In out agency, social work staff have the initial contact with parents during the recruitment process. We encourage enrollment of special needs children by recruiting through our community "Check your Child" screenings. I assist families in participating in screenings and evaluation by providing needed support (phoning for appointment, transportation, etc.). I participate in regular family-child case management staffings and IEP team meetings, and provide social services, as needed, to families of children with special needs.

Pamela, from Opportunity Preschool replied:
We are often the first contact that parents have with out school. We routinely make referrals for screening and evaluation if children aren't already receiving services. If no other transportation is available, we transport parents to and from evaluations, IEPs and placement meetings. We assist in communication between parents and the special needs team members. We offer family strengths assessments and referrals to and information about community resources available to families. .
